Verdict

The chasing debut of PRINCE OF SCARS has been eagerly awaited and Ruby Walsh is a tremendous replacement for the injured Bryan Cooper. The winner of the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown in December, where he had Alpha Des Obeaux four lengths behind, he was then third to Thistlecrack at Aintree and he'll be suited by this sort of trip over the bigger obstacles. The runner-up, a Grade 2 winner over hurdles and runner-up to Thistlecrack at Cheltenham, looked badly in need of his chasing debut at Tipperary earlier this month despite starting odds-on and finished last though he'll do much better here and should have the call over stablemate Baily Moon. Goulane Chosen has now had eleven starts over fences without winning though he's gone close against decent opposition more than once. Kilkishen has fallen at the last on both starts over fences but was in contention at the time and looks best of the remainder.
