Verdict

Balbir Du Mathan has run nine times over fences without winning but has come up against some smart opposition. He reverted to hurdles at Navan on Sunday for a comfortable victory and this looks the right time to go back to fences. Fire In His Eyes, a winning bumper and hurdler, was well beaten in his only start over fences but is the type to do much better as is Fit To Be Tied, a very progressive hurdler last season who got no further than the first on his chasing bow at Fairyhouse a couple of weeks ago. Jett, whose second to Yorkhill in a Leopardstown Grade 3 in January is easily the pick of the form, hasn't run up to that mark in his two subsequent starts though led for a long way on his reappearance at Naas so has to be greatly respected. MONTALBANO had plenty of experience on the Flat and over hurdles in France before joining Willie Mullins. He won two out of four for the yard last season with his defeats coming at Grade 2 level so he's taken to make a successful chasing debut.
