Verdict

Padraig Beggy hasn't had many opportunities since his shock Derby victory but gets one here on board Madrid, though his mount didn't look particularly suited by heavy ground at Gowran. His stable companions Lucius Tiberius and Fightfortheroses both looked in need of the experience on their debuts and the former in particular caught the eye at Gowran and could prove best of the Ballydoyle trio. WHIRLING DERVISH took an age to get going over an extended mile on soft ground at Galway but ran on once getting the hang of the job and, with improvement virtually guaranteed, looks the one to beat. Clueless Hill finished runner-up in a four-runner event at Roscommon while Tashman didn't cope with heavy going at Listowel.
