In depth

Verdict

The solid claims of Arceye win the day but there are a number of potential dangers lurking in the field. The selection had proved rather inconsistent in the past but he's turned over a new leaf of late and was only denied a four-timer by a short-head. He has been handed another 6lbs for that and is a whopping 34lbs higher than when his run started but he may not be done with yet and has plenty to recommend him. Paddy's Tern is a winner here over hurdles but has stamina issues to resolve on his chase debut whilst Toni Alcala didn't appear too willing at Huntingdon earlier in the week. Chopneyev and Mister Apple's may feature whilst support for either of the lightly raced pair Would You Believe or Bergerac may provide a clue as to their chances. In truth, not too many can be confidently dismissed but Arceye has solid claims and, as such, deserves the nomination.
