Verdict

Chronomatic is capable on the flat and has shown a reasonable level of form over hurdles of late, having been travelling well prior to falling two out at Gowran Park last time, so Eoin Doyle's gelding has solid claims but marginal preference is for STORMERS CROSS, who gets the vote over The Black Lion. The eight-year-old makes his debut for David Gandolfo today having shown ability and winning twice in bumpers for Joseph Crowley previously. He has to be considered and makes more appeal than Photogenique, who has been well held in recent starts. Humbel Ben was well beaten in three starts in bumpers in Ireland but ran better at Newton Abbot on his British debut last time and could be of interest first time up over hurdles. Jonjo O'Neill's King High will need to improve considerably on his debut outing in a Stratford bumper to take a hand. Reg Hollinshead's Monaadi is capable on the level and would not need to be anything out of the ordinary on his hurdling debut to take a hand in the finish but preference is for Irish point-to-point winner Stormers Cross, who would need to improve on recent rules form but may be worth taking a chance with in a poor contest like this.
