Verdict

GOLDEN SHINE created a good impression on her debut at Newmarket and, although she needs to improve greatly if she is going to fulfil her Phoenix Stakes entry; the daughter of Royal Applause is readily preferred ahead of Good Morning Dubai, Majestic Style and Melodize today. Melodize looked awkward at Windsor and needs to learn to settle a little better. It's early days for her, though, and, as she gains in experience, she may be capable of finding a race somewhere along the line. Similar comments apply to Majestic Style, whose latest effort left a lot to be desired. She may be best left for a small handicap later in the season. Therefore, it's down to Good Morning Dubai to throw down the gauntlet to the selection. Being by Dubawi and out of a half-sister to smart miler Zaffen, Brian Meehan's filly may find the minimum trip a little sharp, though - especially as she comes up against a potentially useful individual in the shape of Golden Shine. She may not go on to be a world-beater but Golden Shine is very difficult to overlook here.
