In depth

Verdict

An interesting handicap where CANDOTOO may provide the answer, while Sidney Melbourne, Saint Thomas and Home Advantage are all considered. Jeremy Noseda has his runners in great shape at present and he also has a decent record when sending one handicapping for the first time. Candotoo is one such runner. She tries fast ground for the first time here after three maiden runs so far this campaign, but her sire acted very well on it, so there is plenty of cause for optimism, especially now she is dropped back to this more suitable trip. From a mark of just 67 she can prove up to the task. Sidney Melbourne should be better for his handicap debut experience and now upped in trip he is likely to go well for Kieren Fallon. Beverley winner Saint Thomas failed to add to that success at Chester last time. There may have been excuses there on account of that tricky circuit and with the yard now firing we expect him to emerge as a danger. Roger Charlton's Home Advantage scored at Bath over this trip last time on firm ground. He should be able to compete strongly once more from just 3lbs higher this afternoon. Laverre is not out of it and would be very interesting if backed, but Candotoo is the suggestion.
