Verdict

David Pipe's MUTUAL FRIEND has not been at his best in handicap hurdles of late and has failed to deliver in two previous starts over fences but the opposition here does not look too strong and he is hard to oppose with the main battle likely to be for minor placings with Executive's Hall just preferred to Stagecoach Pearl. Sue Smith's gelding won a handicap hurdle at Doncaster in December off a mark of 108 and the yard have their runners in good heart and he has claims on his chasing debut, given that the stable's chasers are normally well schooled. Blacktoft has won a couple of novice hurdles for Evan Williams but has disappointed in claimers in his last couple of outings. Andy Crook's Executive's Hall was pulled up on his rules debut over fences at Carlisle but had run well in points previously and he could be of interest for the forecast behind the likely winner, Mutual Friend.
