In depth

Verdict

Victor Daly is an interesting character to keep on the right side and gets the nod over Hold The Bid and Low Reactor. The lightly weighted Got The Gift - a winner at Sedgefield last month - is also worth noting in the betting, as he may have plenty more to offer now that Sue Smith has stepped him up in trip. Tjade Collier takes 5lb off with his claim and it would not be surprising to see the partnership go close. The same yard send out Hold The Bid, whose hatful of placed efforts mean he is no back number in this company. He also stays well and comes here in great heart. The betting market may be the best clue regarding Smith's duo here. Low Reactor came good at Newcastle last time and is respected on that effort alone. However, he does need to conclusively prove he gets three miles plus, so there are reasons to hold fire where he is concerned. Therefore, Victor Daly is the safer option today. Heather Dalton's gelding bounded to a comfortable victory at Lingfield last month - delivering on the promise he had previously shown since being sent over hurdles. Even from top weight the six-year-old looks a stand out in this company and he can be fancied to take this in his stride if he turns up in the same form as for his Lingfield romp.
