Verdict

Ben De Haan's Fidelis has shown ability but is proving to be expensive to follow and he may again have to settle for a place at best behind BARREL OF FUN, who gets the vote with Cadeaux Cerise rated the best of the rest. The selection was capable on the flat and looked nothing out of the ordinary on his hurdling debut but Jim Best's gelding showed much improved form when running out the comfortable winner of a novices' hurdle at Plumpton last month and a reproduction of that form should see him defy the penalty for that success. David Pipe's Kapborg has shown only limited ability in bumpers and of more interest may be Timoca, who was useful on the flat in Ireland but has disappointed in two starts over hurdles for Evan Williams. Tignello could be of interest on his debut for Paul Nicholls but would need to improve on flat form to take a hand and a bigger threat is likely to come from Cadeaux Cerise. Andy Haynes has his team in good heart at present and the mare showed better form at Towcester last time so has to be considered but Barrel Of Fun looked one to keep on the right side of when winning at Plumpton and can win again.
