    In depth

    Verdict

Farewell Gift can beat fellow newcomer Konigsbote, with Seize, The Venetian and Blazing Guns all worth a mention. Carl Llewellyn has made a cracking start to his training career, already earning the respect of his peers, and so Farewell Gift is sure to command respect on his debut over timber. Successful twice on the Flat for Richard Hannon, his ability to last out today's trip is obviously open to question, but his trainer is no mug and if there is any stamina in there, he will extract it. Konigsbote was placed a number of times on the level, and ran in the German Derby, but that does not make him unbeatable, and he could be worth taking on, although he is with the right trainer now and will be placed to good effect in time. Seize has had two outings over timber already, while The Venetian is another on a learning curve. Nothing is fancied too strongly, with Farewell Gift getting a tentative nod.
