Verdict

Distant Memories won this 12 months ago for Tom Tate under regular pilot Jamie Spencer, just edging out Hot Prospect. There probably won't be much to choose between the pair today but this year's renewal is a lot more competitive. Godolphin has three entries with Frankie riding Prince Bishop, who hasn't raced since the spring but won in a higher grade at Longchamp last October. Epsom winner Prince Siegfried could struggle at this level, however, while Simon De Montfort will have to settle better than he did at Haydock where he eventually unseated his rider. City Leader and Principal Role can make their presence felt, while Mike De Kock's filly Mahbooba may have needed her run at Newmarket and has to be of interest. But DUX SCHOLAR can strike a blow for the classic generation as he just appeared to find 1m1f too sharp at York eight days ago having beaten Hot Prospect with a bit in hand at Newbury earlier.
