        Verdict

        STRIKER TORRES was sent off favourite on his latest start over C&D but a suicidal battle for the lead put an end to his chances. Jimmy Quinn takes over in the saddle here and, ridden with more restraint, Geoff Oldroyd's charge can make amends and reverse earlier form with Smalljohn in the process. After being placed on her last five starts, Avonrose is hard to enthuse about, but Rubenstar is still improving and another bold bid from him looks likely. Top weight Coolminx has the form on turf to figure and is worth noting on her return to action.
