In depth

Verdict

La Puce gets a narrow vote over Sahaat, Pure Mischief and Low Cloud. Not too many line up in top form at present, and indeed La Puce is no world-beater, but the three-year-old was definitely unlucky behind Master Theo here three weeks ago when not getting the best of runs with a furlong to go. In the end he had to settle for second place but should make a bold bid to go one better now. Sahaat kept on well when scoring at Pontefract in October and has since had a disappointing run over hurdles at Uttoxeter. He would be interesting if on his best form and if the market speaks kindly, while Pure Mischief encountered traffic problems at Lingfield last time so did well to get third. Low Cloud has been off since September and will come on for the run but the consistent and fitter La Puce makes more appeal today.
