In depth

Verdict

Brandywell Boy, Tamino and Royal Challenge make the shortlist here, with the consistent Brandywell Boy taken to score. Tamino won twice on the Turf this summer but has only one unplaced run on the all weather to date. His ability to handle the surface has to be taken on trust but he did defeat the selection at Newbury in August and re-opposes on identical terms here. Royal Challenge followed up a decent second by losing his maiden tag on the all weather with a good win over the course and distance. A six pound penalty may stop him following up. Brandywell Boy has only won twice in 41 starts but did score at Kempton three outings ago. He has been second twice since and runs off only a pound higher mark here. Brandywell Boy can land the third race of his career from a draw next but one to the rail.
