Verdict

Prince Of Gold is selected ahead of Mount Royale and Humility. Reg Hollinshead's horses invariably run well at Dunstall Park and there was clearly a degree of confidence behind Prince Of Gold when he lined up at the track on February 13. Backed from 9/2 into 3/1 in a non-banded stakes, that is enough to convince us that he still must be showing some ability at home. He beat Mount Royale in a banded stakes in December. Nigel Tinkler's veteran campaigner had struggled for two years before recording a recent success at Southwell. Always best under a soft lead - Mount Royale consented to run on for pressure rather than fold tamely as he has been inclined to do in the past. Humility finished third in a fair banded stakes at the track. Charles Cyzer's horses are always worth following in the event of market support although this looks to be far from the stable star. Colleseum has won for Saleem Golam in the past. It is to be hoped that his handling can reawaken some enthusiasm, as his recent results have been little to write home about. Cloann is yet to win on an artificial surface. That said, she has a good draw and is less exposed than most. Prince Of Gold has been expensive to follow and we will allow him one more chance to shine.
