In depth

Verdict

Harare, Pop Music and Ashes Regained are the three to concentrate on here and the vote is given to Harare. The selection was returning from a short break when winning in convincing fashion over this course and distance last time. He has a good draw today and with the very capable William Carson taking 7lbs off his back he should take plenty of beating. Pop Music ran okay on the turf at Folkestone last time but he had previously put up a fairly moderate showing here when fourth behind William's Way and he may have to settle for a minor role today. Ashes Regained does have abilith and he has had excuses for a couple of below-par efforts so far. He remains unexposed and he has run well on this surface before so he is a live contender. United Nations has plenty in his favour and could go well at a price, but Harare is in good form and can land the prize.
