Verdict

The soft ground was against Celtic Sixpence at Thirsk last time but he'd won at the same track before that. Cape Of Hope recorded a double over 6f during the summer but was well beaten over today's trip last time, while Bogsnog has also done his winning over shorter distances. Summer Dream is not the most consistent, though she has claims on her earlier placed efforts over track and trip but Pilates looks in the handicapper's grip now. A prolific winner over course and distance, SMALLJOHN was having his first start since July when only fifth here earlier in the month. He gets the vote with that run under his belt.
