In depth

Verdict

Towy Boy will no doubt flatter to deceive once more so preference is for THE CITY KID ahead of Landucci. Our selection is a real track specialist and has shown herself to be in good heart throughout the first part of 2010, winning twice at Dunstall Park and once over this trip. Having gone down by just a nose to a revitalised rival recently she's now up to a rating that she's never won off before, but from an ideal draw in a particularly weak race perhaps she can make amends. Landucci stumbled at the start in a claimer when last seen but can put that disappointment behind him with a big run. Last time he took in a course and distance handicap the nine-year-old finished second off this rating of 65 and he should get competitive. Towy Boy is consistent in terms of picking up prize money but this 43-race maiden can't be considered a solid betting proposition, while previously frustrating Ride A White Swan has found his niche over six and could find his stamina stretched beyond breaking point. Contrastingly the relatively lightly-raced Whispering Spirit may prove better suited by an extra furlong alongside last time out winner Bob Stock, who won stylishly last time but rarely puts two good runs together. First Blade hasn't yet won beyond six and while Eliza Doolittle is temptingly handicapped she ran badly when last seen, so we'll return to The City Kid.
