In depth

Verdict

This is a competitive handicap in which the likes of Grand Lass, Desert Heat, Givemethemoonlight and Futuristic all have solid claims and we make Givemethemoonlight the tentative choice. The selection is in great heart at present and ran well enough when a beaten favourite here behind Warden Warren on Monday. A reproduction of that effort would put him in the frame and it could be worth giving him the chance to make amends for that defeat. Desert Heat is the obvious danger as he beat the selection on his last outing at this track but the trip is more suitable for our nomination here and although there will not be much between them at the finish, Givemethemoonlight is a consistent sort and looks more likely to run up to his form. Grand Lass ran well in a claimer last time behind Ally Makbul and despite the services of Darryl Holland will find this more difficult, while Futuristic was returning from a break when a good second behind Sorbiesharry last time. He could represent a bit of value in the race as he is bound to come on for that run and he did have Givemethemoonlight narrowly behind him that day. This is a tight race as many of these would have chances on their best form, but Givemethemoonlight is a game sort and is put forward as the one they all have to beat.
