Verdict

A moderate opener to start the card but Millfield might be the answer to this with Machinate and Charlottebutterfly the others for consideration. Pat Chamings' charge does have to concede weight all around but he is in fairly good heart at the moment and having stayed on well over seven furlongs, he might be worth the chance over this longer trip. Machinate won a weak affair at the track last week. Course form has to be respected although his winning form has been few and far between. Kirstys Lad won at odds of 100/1 in October. Recent efforts have suggested that to be no fluke. Charlottebutterfly has the services of Simon Walker this afternoon. Her latest run was too bad to be true and she is capable of better despite a poor draw. Empire Dancer is another to have a top flight amateur booked and the market is watched to see if anything spectaculaar is expected from the Yarmouth winner. Zantero looks best of the rest although he has shown a tendancy to race freely. Millfield is far from a confident selection but is at least in some semblance of form.
