Verdict

O MA LAD finished a close-up eighth behind Sir Graham Wade in a higher grade race at Doncaster a fortnight ago. A similar effort here would make him the one to beat. Den Maschine remains in fine form and went close again over a longer trip at Kempton three weeks ago but Gold Rules has gone up another 4lb for his recent second at this track and is now 12lb higher than his latest win. The Holyman is another who looks high enough in the weights at present but Nave has a shout off his current mark having finished third at Kempton last time.
