Verdict

In a maiden where the market might be our best guide we'll take the chance that CLOCKMAKER has trained on from two to three and build on a career bow while Ancient Greece is interesting on debut with Khajaaly also on our list after his own encouraging first start. John Gosden has started this season with a bang and it is he that saddles the selection who sets the standard after finding just the one too good on debut. The winner of that race went on to win a handicap off a mark of 100 so if running up to that level again Clockmaker can get off the mark. Mark Johnston does better with his older debutantes and Ancient Greece falls into that category. The colt has a really taking pedigree and looks bred for about this trip so if running up to his potentially on his first start he is a real live contender. Khajaaly is also well bred and ran better than the bare results suggests on his own debut. You'd expect him to come on for that run but the form from that race has been very weak. Michael Bell's Admission should be good enough to take this based on his bloodline but with experience to build on we go for Clockmaker to extend his trainer's good run.
