Verdict

Baltic Blazer made a very promising seasonal debut and can land this valuable prize from Stretton and Grey Clouds. Peter Harris's four-year-old wasn't beaten far in a competitive handicap at Haydock won by Ionian Spring, and as he is very lightly raced there should be plenty of improvement to come. Grey Clouds was well beaten on soft ground at Hamilton last time but is better judged on her previous effort when finishing just three lengths behind the smart La Persiana on a much quicker surface at York. Top-weight Stretton put up a game performance to beat La Sylphide at Ripon last time and will be a danger to all if he can reproduce that form on the faster surface. River Treat is also worth a mention following some promising recent runs, however Baltic Blazer has more scope for improvement than most of these and gets the vote.
