    Verdict

Sands Crooner was a winner last time and will prove popular with punters but we will side with Conjecture to take this, while Silver Prelude and Welcome Approach can also go well. Conjecture put up a good performance to be second at Ayr last time when drawn on the wrong side of the track and comes here to race from the same mark of 55. He handles all types of ground and has a decent enough draw towards the middle here so he can go one better. Sands Crooner beat Caustic Wit a neck at Bath last time, his first win on turf. He carries a penalty here and is hardly a good thing when all of that is considered, although a repeat effort would see him thereabouts. Silver Prelude is another rated 55 and put in a good performance to finish runner up to Ebraam over 6f at Wolverhampton last week. However, he has not won since 2004 and maybe still needs a further drop to get her nose in front again. Of the remainder, Welcome Approach is just 1lb above the mark of his last win and will appreciate the faster surface here, so he could go close, but preference is for Conjecture.
