Iceblast didn't stay 1m2f here last time but had run well in two earlier starts over C&D and races off a slightly lower mark today. He should make his presence felt with apprentice David Simmonson claiming 7lb. Gladys' Gal made all to get off the mark on the Polytrack at Lingfield last month, but Firebeam was equally impressive at the same track on turf a week later and may be better suited by the going here. Warwick winner Fityaan didn't give his true running when favourite at Epsom and the same can be said of FIELDGUNNER KIRKUP at Pontefract. David Barron's gelding wouldn't let himself down on the fast ground last time but should find these conditions more to his liking and he's been crying out for this longer trip for a while. He could be the value in a tight handicap.
