Verdict

Eagle Rock has been consistent around here in the past and Tom Tate's six-year-old should be a popular having gone in again at Doncaster last month. RHOMBUS takes a step up in trip this afternoon, and with his yard in form, and placed efforts at Ascot and Goodwood fresh in the memory, we fancy him to make his class count. Teak failed to follow up victory in a staying event at Pontefract and is tried in a visor for the first time. Cloudy Spirit finished behind him on that occasion, but Andrew Hollinshead's mare was having her first run of the campaign and the handicapper has subsequently dropped her 3lb since. Caledonia and Hot Spice were ready winners in lesser grade and they now attempt a repeat against significantly better opposition. Great Fighter is relatively unexposed though the Wolverhampton maiden winner hasn't yet been able to translate his form to Turf.
