Verdict

Smarty Socks won this a year ago for David O'Meara and the veteran, who was gaining his fourth success on the track that day, will be all the better for his recent run at Ripon. His stable is also represented by the easy Haydock winner Dubai Hills, who is up 8lb for that victory, and Alejandro, who should be approaching his best after two runs in testing conditions. True Pleasure completed a double in impressive fashion at Catterick but a 7lb rise makes this more difficult while Kalk Bay hasn't won since August 2012 yet is still 5lb higher. DUSKY QUEEN has won her last two starts over the course and distance and Ryan Moore gave her a superb ride to snatch the spoils a month ago in a bunch finish. She won with a bit in hand so the fact that she's just 2lb higher suggests she's ready to go in again. Johnny Cavagin was impressive at Catterick but takes a step-up in grade from a 7lb higher mark.
