Verdict

Another typically competitive handicap and marginal preference is for Far Lane with Researched, Kirovski and Jabaar as the likeliest alternatives. The Barry Hills-trained Far Lane was a most progressive performer last term having finished in the frame in a string of valuable handicaps, putting up his best effort when a close second in the Cambridgeshire. The son of Lear Fan returns to action on a 6lb higher mark but looks the type who can continue to improve as a four-year-old and, with his stable in excellent form at present, he should give another good account under Richard Hughes. Sir Michael Stoute is represented by Reasearched, a lightly raced type who showed useful form last year and is probably capable of better but is held by the selection on their running at Newbury in September. Kirovski was in good heart on the all-weather during the winter, landing a valuable handicap off a mark of 105 in January but returns to the turf on a stiff mark and looks vulnerable to a less exposed rival. Jabaar is now in the care of David Nicholls having landed a competitive Newmarket handicap for Ed Dunlop last season but has had his problems and looks handicapped up to his very best. Recent Nottingham winner Dream Magic steps up in grade but Perfect Storm has shaped as though the step up in trip will suit and could go well at a decent price.
