Verdict

An open maiden can go the way of NICOLA'S DREAM, with the dangers cited as Singapore Lilly and Paper Dreams. The selection debuts here for in-form Richard Fahey and is related to plenty of winners, including as juveniles, and a high-class dual scorer in the US. Singapore Lilly made a pleasing first effort at Brighton and with improvement to come, she could emerge as the pick of the Channon-trained pair, with stablemate Smart Red likely to do better when upped in trip. Slatey Hen is nicely bred and may represent value if the pre-race forecast is anything to go by, while Paper Dreams should act in conditions, but may do better at three. Classic Gem was as green as the turf at Bath and needs to improve significantly on that effort, and preference is for Nicola's Dream.
