Verdict

Mis Chicaf can defy topweight in the opener, with Bridgewater Boys, El Palmar and Fox Covert expected to provide the main dangers. Mis Chicaf has to shoulder a six-pound penalty but the way she disposed of her rivals at Doncaster last week suggests that John Wainwright's filly will be up to the task. She is obviously coming on in leaps and bounds and if she can beat older opponents there is no reason why she should not make all against her own age group prior to a possible crack at the William Hill Trophy here next month. Bridgewater Boys has won three of his last four starts and can give the selection most to do. Kevin Ryan's charge displayed battling qualities when scoring at Haydock last time but the ground here will be lightning fast and that might just count against him. In contrast El Palmar may appreciate underfoot conditions more than at Newcastle recently when he left the money in the bookies' satchels, and the step up in trip will suit as well. Further down the weights, Fox Covert should go well after his much improved effort in a first-time visor at Carlisle. He made a lot of the running and kept on when headed, so has a chance of reaching the frame at least off a fair mark. However, Mis Chicaf is on the upgrade and can take this before going on to better things.
