Folk Opera and GRAVITATION pulled over three lengths clear of the rest in the straight and it was the latter who stuck her head in front on the line to land the spoils. Frankie Dettori set the pace above the former and he had them all on the stretch rounding the final turn, barring the winner who just wouldn't go away. There were stamina doubts about the Godolphin filly, but she certainly looked to get the 1m6f well enough. So did Gravitation, who built on her third in the 2m Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot. This was only her sixth career start and she knuckled down well in the end, though at one stage in the final furlong it looked as if she wouldn't go past. Hi Calypso came to challenge from off the pace but couldn't get into it and folded tamely. This was her second disappointing effort in a row after racking up a four-timer at the end of last season.
