The curtain came down with this tradtional curate's egg over a marathon trip. CARACCIOLA is well into the veteran stage but he has lost absolutely no zest for racing and fairly thrashed this lot. Eddie Ahern brought him to challenge from mid-division approaching the two-furlong marker and the race was his from then on as he took total command with a furlong to run. Runner-up Tyrells Wood found himself rather trapped on the far rail as the winner went clear but he got out and ran on well in pursuit to be fair. Even with an untroubled passge, it would be pushing it to think he would have got past the Caracciola in this mood. Amerigo claimed third but was never going to finish any better than that placing while Bulwark flattered having travelled well and proabbaly doesn't stay this far anyway. Tasheba is a stablemate of the winner and tried to grab the race off the home turn but soon found his effort flattening out.
