SNOW FAIRY had been supplemented for the race after her impressive win at Goodwood and it proved a shrewd bit of business thanks to a superb ride from Ryan Moore. Settled last early on, she began to pick her way through the field from three furlongs out and delivered a telling late burst - despite bouncing off the running rails a couple of times - to collar Meeznah and Remember When. Meeznah had trounced a small field of maidens last time at Newmarket and the visual impression of that effort was really taking. She proved herself to be seriously on the upgrade and thundered home with a relentless run once in the clear. Connections are now aiming her for the Irish equivalent at the Curragh and she will be the one to beat if repeating this effort on a galloping track that will suit ideally. Remember When remains a maiden but that won't be the case for long. She was in front inside the final two furlongs but perhaps did not quite get home so a return to 10 furlongs could be on the cards.Henry Cecils pair Aviate and Timepiece were disappointing, the former also looking like a non-stayer while this was Timepiece's third effort this season that did not come up to expectations. Gertrude Bell made a gallant bid but faded into fifth and could get back to winning ways with her sights lowered while Rumoush was baulked all around the Downs and could never get on an even keel. She remains capable of picking up a decent prize somewhere down the line. Irish filly Akdarena was well backed but did too much early on in a first-time visor and was swallowed up in the straight. She is another filly not to write off on the back of this. The gamble to run Sajjhaa after just one outing -allbeit an impressive one in a Sandown maiden - backfired and she never seemed at home on the undulations while Ceilidh House looked to have an off day.
