AWESOME FEATHER made it six out of six when providing her jockey, Jeffrey Sanchez, with a winning first ride at the Breeders' Cup when getting the better of a sustained duel in the straight with pacesetter R Heat Lightning who kept on bravely to the line. Todd Pletcher's filly comfortably turned around form from the Frizette with the favourite A Z Warrior who never threatened having held a midfield pitch early. Frankie Dettori, a little surprisingly given earlier results, rushed Theyskens' Theory up the rail to challenge the leader in the early stages of the race although his hand was forced somewhat by his rail draw. There was no great pace with the first half mile run in a steady 48 seconds with Awesome Feather stalking the lead, two of the rail, followed through by Delightful Mary and Joyful Victory. That quintet pulled clear of the pack but Theysken's Theory was soon struggling with Joyful Victory the next to go as R Heat Lightning and Awesome Feather on the outside settling down to fight for the prize with the winner getting on top inside the final furlong. Canadian challenger Delightful Mary ran on well to take third with Believe In A. P. making good late progress into fourth.
