Job done. NATIVE KHAN came into this race as the one to beat (especially on this ground) and he effectively put the race to bed in a number of strides two furlongs from home. Having been settled nicely by Kieren Fallon in third, he moved through to challenge for the lead before the dip and was well on top by the time he left it seconds later. He seemed to idle in front (as he has shown a tendency to do in the past), and also hung to his left late on, but by that point he had done enough to seal victory. With the quick ground in his favour he should get conditions to suit in the 2000 Guineas and if turning up (connections considering a trip to France isntead) he would go there as a live outsider; albeit needing to improve on this form. Libranno just held on to second spot late on, although the way he tied up slightly in the final 50 yards might suggest that stamina fears for this trip were well-founded. He was forced to go a bit quicker than his jockey wanted to in the early stages by Richard Hills pushing Yaseer forward, but was then allowed to dictate his own terms for most of the race. Ultimately he was brushed aside two furlongs out, but this was still a fine run and he lost little caste in defeat. Newmarket seems to suit him well and races such as the July Cup would appear to be right up his alley. Yaseer ran a strange race. He was the least exposed coming here and was given a more aggressive ride than in his maidens last year, but he looked to get a little outpaced three furlongs from home. However he rallied fairly well once hitting the rising ground and in another five yards would have finished second. It's fairly logical that having got the mile well as a juvenile, he will need to go over further this year if he is to fulfil his undoubted potential. Casual Glimpse tried to come with a challenge when the sprint started but was found wanted at this level, whilst Ahlaain was another who was just blatantly outclassed.
