Flood Plain would surely have won with a clear passage but stablemate Hezmah drifted right-handed under a left hand drive and closed the door on her just as she was coming with what appeared to be a winning run. That impression was enhanced when she picked up again to run on for third, seemingly full of running. EMMA'S GIFT had run her best race of a relatively busy juvenile season when finishing three and a half lengths behind Memory in the Albany Stakes and is clearly suited by this course. She had been well beaten in a polytrack Listed race won by the progressive Dubawi Gold on her reappearance and had clearly come on for the run. She was caught a little flat-footed when the pace quickened into the turn for home but picked up really well when pulled out into the middle of the track at around the two pole. She may not be the easiest to place but may be able to pick up some Black Type before the season's through. Metropolitain Miss is a half-sister to the Group 3 placed First City and also looks capable of making her mark in Pattern company; she did get the run of things towards the front of the field - as she had when springing a 20-1 surprise on debut at Kempton - but kept on well to finish a clear second and can improve again. Dubaianswer had helped cut out the early running but was already back-pedalling when a little short of room at the furlong pole. Hezmah was a shade keen early on and saw plenty of daylight on the outside in third; she was in a challenging position until weakening from a furlong out, at which point she rolled away from the whip causing the interference to her stablemate. She has a Coronation Stakes entry but has plenty of speed in her pedigree and may be more effective over shorter at this stage of her career. Mystic Dream was also a fraction keen early on; she took a long time to pick up in the straight when out in the open but did stay on and can continue to progress although she may need her sights lowered for the time being. The other penalised runner, Byrony, was badly outpaced when the field sprinted for home but was responding before being eased and can be rated a little better than the bare form.
