ZAIN AL BOLDAN put herself in the picture for the Oaks with an impressive victory in a race which has thrown up Oaks second Midday and winner Look Here in recent years. Mick Channon's filly was taking a significant step up in class after winning a Brighton maiden over a mile on her sole start as a juvenile before narrowly landing a three runner Folkestone handicap over ten furlongs on her reappearance. Held-up in rear in the early stages, she made smooth progress to take up the running with two furlongs to run and only needed to be kept up to her work to record an impressive success. She will reportedly take up her Epsom entry and has proved herself at ease on an undulating track so it would be folly to underestimate her chance given that she's clearly very progressive. There must be some doubt as to the level of form as Field Of Miracles once again raced keenly and looked ill at ease on the track yet still managed to hold on to second place. She had Galivant three lengths behind when winning a Kempton maiden and that rival was beaten further into fourth here despite being well placed and her yard enjoying a decent run of form. The impeccably bred Date With Destiny will have delighted her connections in picking up some valuable Black Type; she has seemingly had her limitations exposed but has trained on and got this longer trip well enough. She may be able to win at this level if connections can find the right opportunity. Always The Lady wasn't helped by racing on the outside of Field Of Miracles who ran wide on more than one occasion but it was still disappointing that Clive Cox's well regarded filly wasn't able to finish closer. She had been a beaten favourite for a Sandown maiden won by Oaks fancy Arizona Jewel and did little to advertise the form Classic claims of Henry Cecil's filly. Her half-brother, Class Is Class, improved for the fitting of a visor and it will be interesting to see if connections opt to try her in headgear.
