SAMITAR, a half-sister to 2007 winner Nijoom Dubai, followed in her sibling's footsteps in fine style, picking up Inetrobil in the closing stages for a fairly ready success. Although not sent off at 50/1 like Nijoom Dubai, she was unfancied at 16/1 but was ridden confidently by Jamie Spencer despite an early bump with Sajwah. He got some great cover at the rear of the group and his mount was still on the bridle when the race developed between the last two furlongs. He moved into third, and then when asked by Spencer she picked up smartly and soon caught Inetrobil. She wasn't soaring away at the line but was well on top and it was no real surprise to see her quoted for next-year's Guineas after this win. Whether she will be up to that level is not really worth guessing at now but she did her job here and as one of the oldest in the line-up (February 1 foal) she was entitled to step up on her debut third. Runner-up Inetrobil ran a blinder, never too far off the gallop from the start despite a slightly tardy beginning. She moved through to challenge the long time leader Luv U Forever with two furlongs to run and shot a couple of lengths clear. She had the rest of them beaten off but just found Channon's filly too strong. She'll win again this season and a race at York will probably be on the radar. Third home was Illaunglass who raced in midfield early on before she was pushed closer to the pace with two furlongs to run. She didn't pick up immediately when asked but did make late headway; she basically shaped as if wanting an extra furlong, although she may also have found the ground a little tacky. Switcher was just out of the places in fourth, and she came from a similar position to the third. Tom Dascombe's horses are in great form but she still seemed a little green when asked to try and pick up the leaders. She ran on well however and is another who will excel over six furlongs. Lily's Angel ran well in fifth but just came up short, whilst Luv U Forever showed great early speed and, like Pat Murphy's third in the Queen Mary, ran with great credit. Sajwah was disappointing but may have been slightly lit up by an early bump, however the major letdown was Teolane. She was very keen early on in a slightly detached last and although she made up ground before halfway, she then lost her position again. She looked to hate the ground and given this was a quick reappearance, it may just have come too soon for her.
