An impressive performance from MAYBE who became Aidan O'Brien's fifth winner of this race in nine years. The Naas maiden winner had been far less impressive in winning a muddling Leopardstown Group Three than she had when winning the Chesham at Royal Ascot but silenced any doubters with a taking display. Travelling comfortably in behind her pacemaker, she moved through to take up the running with a quarter of a mile to run and comfortably quickened clear of the chasing pack. The placed horses did make some late inroads into her lead but the race was over by then and her jockey was not too hard on her. She has plenty of size and scope about her so there must be every chance that she will train on next season and she is now a clear favourite for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas. There's no doubting her superiority although it's fair to say that she did enjoy the run of the race with the runner-up coming from a near impossible position from the rear of the field. Yellow Rosebud - half-sister to a juvenile Listed winner - had easily landed a Leopardstown maiden on debut despite being relatively unfancied in the market. Held-up in rear, she began to creep closer from the half way stage but still only had a couple behind her inside the final furlong; she took a while to find her stride but was going on strongly at the line and can improve again from this performance. She looks well up to competing at this grade. Lightening Pearl had got off the mark at the second attempt having bumped into a fair sort on debut and was another to post an improved performance. Racing in a share of third, she momentarily lost her position as the tempo quickened before battling on gamely. Rubina ran a similar race in fourth and can do better in time whilst Remember Alexander and Soon failed to improve from the positions in which they'd raced; the latter confirmed last month's running with Redoubtable suggesting that they had run to form. Teolane looked highly progressive prior to the Albany where she got worked up in the stalls and failed to run her race; she made no inroads from the back of the pack and it remains to be seen whether her experience from the Royal Meeting has left a mark.
