Fame And Glory was a warm order to land this prize despite a surprise defeat at the hands of Fictional Account three weeks previously but he was in trouble turning into the straight and a long way below par. He hadn't looked too keen to go through with his challenge when beaten over C&D last time and it's possible that he's feeling something or has just cried enough; connections have a job on their hands to nurse him back to his best but he couldn't be in better hands. With his eclipse, it was left to DUNCAN and JUKEBOX JURY to fight out a terrific finish with the judge unable to split the pair at the line. They had raced in first and second almost throughout and had the race between them from a long way out and neither runner deserved to lose. Duncan's attitude has been called into question in the past but he has enjoyed a terrific first season since being gelded and didn't shirk the issue. He should continue to give connections plenty of enjoyment in Cup races next season whilst this term something like the renamed and resited Jockey Club Cup could be an option or connections may be tempted to run him in the Prix du Cadran where the slower tempo of the races in France may help him to see out the two and a half mile trip which he failed to get in the Ascot Gold Cup. Jukebox Jury rather lost his way last term after a winning return from Dubai but has held his form this season and has now won three of his four starts in the current campaign. The pair could clash again at Ascot on Champions Day although Jukebox Jury has proved his affinity for travel with victories in Germany and France to his name as well as a second in the Canadian International in 2009. It would be no surprise to see connections send him on his travels once again having picked up a first Group One success. Red Cadeaux could also be on his travels with connections eyeing a tilt at the Melbourne Cup. He has made rapid strides this season and posted a career best in going down by a length; he only briefly threatened to get to the front pair but battled on commendably to close the gap all the way to the line with conditions in his favour. Like the first two home, he is also entered in the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup and he should find an opening this autumn with conditions on the soft side if connections decide to eschew an Antipodean adventure. Fictional Account failed to follow up on her defeat of Fame And Glory as this admirably consistent mare ran a rare bad race but it would be no surprise to see her return to form back in Listed company.
