A contest that enjoyed a decent spell at the start of the decade with Irish Derby winner Grey Swallow successful in 2003 and Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand winning the following season. The highly-regarded Dubai Prince was an odds-on winner last year and Born To Sea was sent off at a similar price to follow up from his impressive debut success. He was settled in third behind Ballydoyle pair Vault and Ishvana whose strong gallop ensured that this was a decent test. He picked that pair up easily enough but the winner was always travelling strongly in his slipstream and readily put him in his place. John Oxx has always regarded Sea The Stars half-brother as more of a long term project and the colt has suffered one or two small setbacks during the season. He was found to be lame after the race. This was still a step up from his debut Listed win and he finished nicely clear of the third. NEPHRITE had won a Curragh maiden over six furlongs on debut at the end of the previous month by an easy four lengths and impressed on this step up in class. As on debut, he showed an impressive turn of foot to run out an easy winner and is yet another top prospect to emerge from his yard. His dam is from the family of smart sprinter Corrybrough and he's a half-brother to some fair sprinters too but on this evidence he should have little difficulty getting a mile and it just remains to be seen what opportunities are afforded to him next season given the armoury at his connections disposal. Third home Aaraas provides an interesting marker to the form having finished third behind Power on debut and staying on to finish third behind Experience (herself fourth behind Born To Sea) over six furlongs in June. She will stay at least a mile next season and looks capable of winning a small Pattern race if she continues to progress.
