Bar one very bad error two flights from home, this was a fine display of hurdling from hot favourite FINGAL BAY and it was hard not to be impressed with the way he responded to that late error. He was able to stretch his field again turning for home and he jumped the final flight with a foot to spare, a move which really put the race to bed. He was giving weight to some useful horses here and it was no surprise to see his odds trimmed for both the Albert Bartlett and the Neptune Investments races at the Festival. The former over three miles would be no problem, but he has shown a nice turn of foot so the shorter race may be the route that connections go down. Runner-up Barbatos had broken his duck at Chepstow and he travelled well and looked a danger coming to the last. He has just bumped into a better horse here and he remains of interest further down the line. Third was Polisky who ran an eye-catching race on his reappearance. He was held up by Walsh and made up his ground travelling kindly, but just couldn't bridge the ground with the leaders in the home straight. He seemed to get the trip well and looks a good thing for his next start. Emma Lavelle's horses are flying and her Well Regarded was another who moved well through the race. However his momentum was interrupted by mistakes at the final two flights, yet he rallied well on the run-in. Sivola De Sivola was tapped for toe when the pace quickened but Tom George's charge is a stout stayer and he too never threw in the towel, whilst the same applies to African Broadway. He, like most of the field, looks a chaser in the making, and set out to make all the running. He made a mistake as the pace quickened but fought back and was running on again late in the day. Grandads Horse has plenty of size and scope but just found this company too much.
