More rain had fallen by the start of this race so no real surprise that there was a huge distance between first and last and it wouldn't be wise to take the form as reliable/rule out any horse for next time. Considering Ruby Walsh said he hated the ground, the performance of BOSTON BOB under a big penalty was even more meritorious. Having been held up, he looked to be finding it all a bit too tough at three hurdles from home but made up his ground on the leaders turning in and then started to power home down the outside of the field. Once level with Lyreen Legend there was only ever going to be one end result and it was no surprise to see him trimmed for both the Neptune and Albert Bartlett after this run. He looks a chaser in the making, hence the big weight should never have been a huge concern, but looks a viable Cheltenham contender, with the longer race perhaps more likely to play to his strengths. Runner-up Lyreen Legend ran very well in defeat having been fairly prominent on the outer for most of the early running. It looked as if Bryan Cooper may have pinched the race turning in as he skipped three lengths clear but the winner picked him up before the last and although he kept battling his race had been run. His effort boosts the win of Monskland last time and he clearly handles testing ground well. The intriguing run of the race came from Make Your Mark who travelled very powerfully but seemed unable to quicken turning in, as the leader skipped away. He tried to rally but quickly looked a tired horse and it was no surprise that he wasn't given a hard time after the final flight. This first defeat will have taught him plenty and he's not one to give up on yet when returned to better ground; he still looks up to this level. Fourth and fifth home Owega Star and Sea Of Thunder are both experienced and both help add some substance to this race; the latter especially looks ready for the return to three miles, having looked sure to win over that trip at Cheltenham last time before falling. Texas Jack didn't really fire last time behind Monskland but ran ok here, as did Touch Back who travelled strongly on the inner for a long way but didn't appear to get home. He looks worth trying over two miles.
