Verdict

Karl Burke: "He's a horse who has shown us a decent level of ability at home, but although he was mentally ready to run, I think he'll go on to improve physically throughout the year and he should make a nice three-year-old next season. I'm delighted for Colin and Melba. They own the mare (Balladonia) and bred Wootton Bassett. This horse didn't fetch his reserve at the sales, so it's great he's gone and won for them at the first time of asking. I think he's won a shade cosily and Danny said he has plenty of speed for six furlongs, but at the same time, he'll stay seven no problem at all. He's in the Gimcrack Stakes at York and there is also the option of the Acomb Stakes at the same meeting if we decide to go up to seven furlongs. It will be one or the other of those two races for him next, I would have thought."
