The Broncos managed to lift themselves off the foot of the Super League table and up into 12th, one place above Castleford, after earning just their second win of the season.
Salford City Reds replace them at the bottom of the pile, with the Tigers just above them but also stranded on just three points with just one win so far in seven matches.
Both teams initially struggled to get to get to grips with the muddy conditions after heavy rain and sleet shortly before kick-off.
Castleford held the lead after a battling first half, but they failed to score a single point in the second half and a spell of three tries in eight minutes helped propel the Broncos to a welcome victory.
Tries from Kirk Dixon and Craig Huby saw Castleford go in at half time 12-6 in front with just Chris Bailey crossing the line for the visitors, but they improved in the second 40 minutes.
The Broncos' defence managed to hold the home side in the second half as they failed to get back on the scoreboard, but they had no such problems as they went on to add three more tries.
Michael Robertson struck first just seven minutes after the break as he just about managed to hang on to a wet ball by getting it down after a couple of bobbles.
Craig Gower then crossed the whitewash just four minutes later, and then just another four-minute gap elapsed before Bailey touched down for his second try of the match.
The Tigers tried to get back in the game but they were let down by handling errors when they got within striking distance of the try line.
Michael Witt was excellent with the boot as he converted all four tries and also added a penalty in the 72nd minutes to add a little further gloss to the scoreline.
