Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash has confirmed the Super League club have rejected a transfer request from Marc Sneyd.
The 23-year-old stand-off is currently on a season-long loan at Castleford and is playing a key role in the Tigers’ super campaign.
Sneyd’s excellent form had led to question marks over his long-term future while Koukash was always adamant the playmaker would be back at the AJ Bell Stadium in 2015.
A transfer request from Marc Sneyd was received and we turned it down immediately.
However, Salford’s outspoken owner has confirmed Sneyd’s transfer request was swiftly turned down and he is unhappy the player’s agent is trying to dictate terms to the Red Devils.
“Today, a transfer request from Marc Sneyd was received and we turned it down immediately,” Koukash confirmed on Twitter.
“Can't force players to play for our club, and they won't force us to release them from their contract. Agents should not dictate to clubs.”
CEO Martin Vickers said: “We have made very clear to Marc that our intention was for him to play out the remainder of his contract at the AJ Bell Stadium as he remains an integral part of our plans moving forward.
“The Club has no intentions of changing its position and we all need to move past this and look forward to the exciting squad we are assembling for next season and beyond.”
Salford currently have Rangi Chase and Theo Fages in the halves while former Hull KR playmaker Michael Dobson is joining the ranks in 2015.
