Australia Test prop Paul Gallen will finish a one-club man in the NRL after re-signing with Cronulla but has hinted about a move to Super League in 2017.

The New South Wales captain, who turns 34 next month, is thought to be high on Salford director of rugby Tim Sheens' shopping list as the Red Devils scour the market for a marquee player.

The Sharks skipper on Wednesday ruled out an imminent move to England by signing a new 12-month contract with his club for a 16th season, and has also been offered a three-year ambassadorial role with them once he hangs up his boots.

However, he is not making any plans to retire just yet.

"I was only ever after one more year," he said.

"As I've said before I wouldn't mind going to an English Super League club for a season, but I'll see how I am in 12 months' time and I'll decide what my future is then."
