Wakefield have been fined £1,000 following a breach of Rugby Football League operational rules on concussion.

The Wildcats have been punished for failing to remove skipper Danny Kirmond from the pitch for assessment during their 18-16 victory at Widnes in the Super League on April 29, despite showing signs of concussion.

Since the start of the 2015 season, teams are allowed an extra free interchange in the event of a player suffering a head injury that requires a pitch-side assessment.

The rule was introduced by the governing body to safeguard players against the unseen dangers of concussion.

Huddersfield were the last Super League club to be punished for breaching concussion guidelines.

The Giants were fined £1,000 last October for leaving Luke Robinson on the field during a game against Castleford.
