Wakefield head of rugby John Kear and second-row Jordan Crowther have both signed new one-year deals, the Super League club have confirmed.
Kear - the former Sheffield and Hull boss, who was in charge of Trinity between 2006 and 2011 - rejoined Wakefield's coaching staff ahead of the 2017 Super League season and helped the club secure a top-eight spot for a second successive year.
"I am really pleased. I have got great affection for the club as most people will know from my first stint here," Kear said.
"It is great to see how much we have improved on last season but we still have plenty to do over the next six weeks."
Wakefield later announced that second-row Jordan Crowther had also signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of 2018.
The 20-year-old academy product has made just three appearances for Trinity this year and spent time with Dewsbury in the Kingstone Press Championship and Oxford in League 1.
"I have been with Wakefield since I was 15 so it is really nice to be able to stay, especially when it is your hometown club as well," said Crowther.
"I haven't played as many games as I would have liked to this season but the competition is strong. Hopefully next year I can kick on in pre-season and get a few more games."
Head coach Chris Chester added: "Jordan is still only young but I have seen a lot of potential in him that will see him go a long way and I look forward to working with him for the remainder of this season and the next."
